Simon had the best sense of humour of anybody I've ever met. Other than professional comedians, who's paid job it is to make people laugh, nobody has come near in all of the years since meeting him. There's always a backstory allowing somebody to be as outrageously funny as Simon. He had a lived experience. Countless studies the world over however have connected humour with intelligence. Simon possessed all of the tools to raise people's spirits. As the wise owl in the room, Simon would choose to use his wisdom not to put others down, but to lift others up. A bridge, a rock or whatever metaphor you want to use, Simon was a legend because of the way he helped people like this. I didn't know Simon long enough to know if he saw it that way, and can only comment on how his spirit was received. He helped lift people. People felt good in Simon's company. Committing to learn from his positive interactions with family and friends, the tonic he provided, is a worthy pointer as we navigate the rest of our lives. In that we'll take Simon with us. The best of Welshmen.
